Activities

Since the inception the Sangha has been actively serving the Socio-Cultural needs of the members and residents of Navi Mumbai.

The Sangha has organized programmers such as

        • Dramas
        • Yakshaganas
        • Musical concerts
        • Kannada film shows
        • Picnics, etc.

It has organizes various competitions for the members and their children, such as

        • Sports,
        • Singing,
        • Fancy dress,
        • Drawing,
        • Cooking,
        • Rangoli, etc.

To encourage our younger generation to participate in Sangha’s various activities in large numbers, a Youth Wing has been formed. Our drama groups have participated in Kuvempu memorial one act play competitions held by Karnataka Sangha, Mumbai and won many awards and laurels. Skits presented by our Mahila Mandali have been broadcast by All India Radio, Mumbai. Our Sangha also collaborated with Mysore Association in organizing Kannada Film Festival. Girish Karnad Natakotsav and Yakshagana Gombeyata etc.

The Sangha also conducts Kannada Language Classes for children during the vacations and has been recognized as a center for conducting Kannada Certificate Courses of Mumbai University since 1998. Recently, Sangha was felicitated By Mumbai University for its contribution in preserving Kannada language in this city. The Sangha has also been conducting Marathi language classes since the last 8 years.

Our Sangha has been recognized as center for teaching Sanskrit by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mumbai. The which were started in the year 1987, have grown in popularity and are being patronized by both children and adults. Examinations are conducted and certificates are awarded by Saral Sanskrit Vibhag of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. Over 200 students have so far availed of the opportunity of getting familiarized with a language which is not only rich and beautiful but also is the fountainhead of all cultural and literary heritage of India.

The Sangha has given donations for many medical and welfare schemes such as for purchase of ambulances, for Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for flood, earthquake, tsunami relief funds, for treatment of seriously ill patients, for relief and welfare of Adivasi people, etc.
